Make this easy bacon wrapped shrimp recipe for a crowd-pleasing appetizer. Juicy shrimp wrapped in crispy bacon and coated with a simple sweet and savory brown sugar glaze. Perfect for parties or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound thin-cut bacon, halved crosswise
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Toothpicks, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat the shrimp completely dry using paper towels. This step helps the bacon crisp up.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to create the glaze mixture.
  4. Take one piece of shrimp and wrap it tightly with a half-slice of bacon. Secure the bacon with a soaked toothpick inserted through the shrimp and bacon.
  5. Place the wrapped shrimp onto the prepared wire rack.
  6. Brush the tops of the bacon-wrapped shrimp generously with half of the brown sugar glaze mixture.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and brush the shrimp with the remaining glaze mixture.
  9. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp and the shrimp is opaque and cooked through. Watch carefully to prevent the sugar from burning.
  10. Remove the toothpicks before serving. Serve immediately as a quick bite or party food idea.

Notes

  • For extra crispy bacon, you can briefly broil the shrimp for the last 1-2 minutes, watching constantly.
  • If you prefer an air fryer shrimp recipe, cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Patting the shrimp dry is essential for achieving crispy bacon recipes results.
