Ingredients
Scale
1 (16.3 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into quarters
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cook the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir the Italian seasoning and garlic powder into the cooked meat.
Place the quartered biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Pour the pizza sauce over the biscuits. Gently toss to coat the biscuit pieces lightly.
Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese over the sauce and biscuits.
Scatter the cooked meat mixture and pepperoni evenly over the cheese layer.
Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before you cut and serve it.
Notes
You can substitute the pepperoni with your preferred pizza toppings like cooked mushrooms or sliced black olives.
For a richer flavor, use Italian sausage instead of ground beef.
This casserole is a great make ahead casserole; assemble it completely, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time if cooking from cold.
