Ingredients
Scale
1 (4-5 pound) bone-in or boneless turkey breast
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, for brushing)
Instructions
Pat the turkey breast completely dry using paper towels. This helps the seasonings adhere.
In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire surface of the turkey breast.
Pour the chicken broth and water into the bottom of your slow cooker (Crock Pot).
Place the seasoned turkey breast directly on top of the liquid in the slow cooker.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours, or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Cooking time depends on the size and whether it is bone-in or boneless.
The turkey is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 165°F.
Carefully remove the turkey from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board, loosely tented with foil, for 15 minutes before slicing.
If desired, brush the rested turkey with melted butter for added moisture before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add one chopped onion and two celery stalks to the liquid in the slow cooker.
If you prefer a cranberry flavor, substitute 1/2 cup of the chicken broth with cranberry juice.
Save the cooking liquid from the slow cooker to make a simple, flavorful gravy.
